


In printmaking, I used 3 basic technique : linocut, monoprint and stencil. Based on a urban landscape architecture , I created a range of printmaking with diffrent composition , tonal values, light and shade with oil based print making ink on a lineoleum and a A4 acrylic sheet.It is a print of a fire fighting station and a stalk of lotus flower. The hue gets redder with each successive coat and under painting is done to bring out their pristine fresh quality.I created a print with cut drawboards- clear sizing and meticulous smoothing enhances the precious printmaking. It symbolises Ren – Life.
In drawing still life, I understand the use of line to represent surfaces characterties. Using lines to represent add intrepretation of figures or forms, contours, tone and textures. It is a communicating space where ideas are transmitted to a small specific or a mass audience. It exists as illusion in the graphic field , in every work of art, created by the art elements. I experiment with design – non -realistic, self-expressive, colour quality, concept design, space, spatial relationship, movement and rhythm , dynamiiisum, creativity, orginality and self interpretation .

4) Mural wll painting : this project is a further exploration and experimenting with our own facial expressions with lines structural , contours tones and textures. Rendering mainly in achromatic colours of black and white tones. Lines succeed in creating depth and movement of facial expressions entails thrilling and liberating styles. It wholly effectively depicts the artist’s spirit and character.Mediun used is household emulsion paint.
Visual journal is another project for formulating and recording ideas and imaginations. My sketches cover titles surrounding daily activities commonly seen in Singapore. These drawings are titled : Pasar Malam, Chinese Opera Show In Open Space, Chinatown, the largest open space shopping in singapore – Bugis, etc. This style of drawing are easily tranported and enabled me to carry out imaginary power in my painting. In further research studies , I comprehend that complexity can be achieved by adding lines and shapes in a progessive sequences. The resulting power of colour is to shape the given form and create tension by pairing opposite colours.
In creating a ‘diorama’, I developed a range of various paintings studies with several different techniques , composition, tonal values, light and shade by means of paint gra dations. Studies concept comprises of titles such as
1) Great courtesan of Yoshiwara and her routine parading at the New Year. For the courtesan was no more prostitute but an arbiter of taste in music , poetry, calligraphy, wit as well as fashion. Elegant allure, exotically protrayed, made her the idol of the n ation. She is to teach woman behaviour, etiquette in a moralistic fashion.
2) The Tea house .This painting protrays the ever innovative textile and craft industries . It also protrays the liveliness and the beautiful gestures , the gracious movements of the contour of the chinese girls. Her reputation travels far.
